The Afghanistan phase of operations will eventually end, allowing Washington to focus on a new theater: Iraq.
Prior to the attacks, the standoff between the United States and Iraq had become a foreign policy situation similar to the U.S.-Cuba stalemate, where a policy of confrontation remains despite the disappearance of its geopolitical foundations. I have thoughts of my own, but what do you all think should be done with regards to Iraq, or is it still to early to say? Keep the following in mind:
1) It now appears that Qusai Hussein, Saddam's second son and likely successor, has taken actual control of the ministry. Can this lay the groundwork for the United States to eventually normalize relations with Iraq?
3) The Israelis, who carefully monitor operations in their area, have noted very real contacts between al-Qa'ida and Iraqi intelligence.
