Redundant external storage that transfers DIRECTLY with devices over WiFi?

I live on the road but I also deal with a lot of large video and photo files.

I need a data storage device that I can transfer files onto for archiving. The device needs to have built in RAID redundancy.

But here's the thing - I will NEVER be on a home network. I want a direct WiFi transfer from computer to storage without any kind of router in-between. I could then transfer files directly to it (theoretically) from any device over WiFi, like my phone, my tablet, my ultrabook (without an ethernet port).

Are there any devices like this available?

And no, I'm not going to build my own.

When I have time I will also be making backups to the cloud. If the entire device gets broken then I'm hosed.

Why not just go with a NAS, cross over cable and static IPs?

EDIT: many Nas auto negotiate the cable these days so a cross over might not even be needed.

WiFi would just be more convenient. I could transfer files directly to it (theoretically) from any device over WiFi, like my phone, my tablet, my ultrabook (without an ethernet port).

That is going to be one unusual nich device, closest I see is this.

Here is one in stock

But even it does not have RAID features.

Might be easier to just get a nas and a small router, there are some pocket size ones these days.

Hi, Fuzzy! I just finished a trip and used a new Kingston Wi-Drive to off load photos for temporary archiving. It works well, but, no RAID. I did not find that to be a problem. I can connect to it via Wi-Fi from my tablet or laptop. I got the largest capacity model. Very compact. It fit neatly into an old neoprene PCMCIA card case. http://www.kingston.com/us/usb/wireless
