Reduced screen brightness with clean install (XPS 12)

After a clean install of Windows 8 on my XPS 12 my display brightness is lower than it was before. The brightness slider still functions fully, but every brightness stage is dimmer than it was previously. I have installed the latest available Intel HD Graphics drivers from Dell and updated the panel's firmware, but to no effect. Power saving options don't seem to have any effect either.

Does anyone have any idea how I might fix this problem?
 
Is there an ambient lighting setting? I know MAC added those, and I think Windows 8 has as well. There should be a setting to turn it off so the screen is Full on.
