It would be great if one of you could drag me around until I have a useful character? I've grown a bit tired of Socom Confrontation after a thousand games in a month or so...lol

If anyone is playing this regularly right now plz pm me or something. Thx

Wow, a Thousand games? That game was terrible. Glad i sold it and kept the Headset. Planet side brings back some memories. I havn't played it since it come out. How many Expansion packs are out already?

To be fair they've drastically overhauled Socom: Confrontation recently. Not the actual play-style, but I'm pretty sure that's how the Socom games have always played. I've really not played the Socom games though, so jumping head-first into Confrontation threw me off like mad - so hard to adjust to the play style.
ESPECIALLY when you hop on non-ranked servers (never did go back and try ranked, i've kept the game because hell, at only $10 more than the headset alone, it was like a freebie that could get better with age)... the non-ranked games are so fast and chaotic for what the controls offer I just can't do it. Now I imagine the ranked games where there is no respawn... I imagine people actually use the headset for more than bullshitting and actually try and play as a team since no-body wants to go and get killed doing something dumb as hell and have to sit there for 5-10 minutes while the rest of the team tries to move on without you.

But back on to the topic, heh

I never could get into Planetside. I tried back when it was somewhat new, like maybe a year or two old, new compared to now... and it just felt like a large world version of Counterstrike that I was paying for. Didn't enjoy that notion. Neat concept, but very flawed and downright terrible execution. It didn't feel like there was any urgency/need to capture the scattered bases, so that's why each base fight just felt like a game of counterstrike.

Just watched the demo movie - man they've changed the game quite a lot back when I was an active player [uhh...5+ years ago?]. Looks like mech-warrior battle now..

I don't know about drastically. I played the game a few weeks after the patch came out and it Seems like all they did was add features that were missing during release. They still have the same glitches and frame rate issues that they had before the patch.

Good memories of Planetside. But no, I will not go back into Planetside. Tried to a couple of years ago with the rest of my outfit (Dragon Wolves - Emerald) but we lasted about a month into it. Not that it was hard or anything, it just didn't feel right. Like something was missing. Law of Diminishing Returns.

I loved Planetside when it came out in 2003. I played for a month or two, then played it again probably around 2005-2006. Played it for a month or two.

The thing that kept turning me off is it always seemed like no matter what I said, I was always firing blanks. Guns were not powerful enough or did enough damage. But it seemed I died quickly no matter what.

I remember having my anti aircraft tank driving around and seeing a fighter. I sat there and unloaded on the thing for like 20 seconds straight, gettiing hits, it turns around, fires at me for 2 and I'm dead. That always drove me bonkers.

Has that been fixed?
