RedHat 8, clean install or upgrade???

I'm used to windows and I never, repeat, never upgrade Windows, I always clean install.

My question to you linux guru's. Does the clean install rather than upgrade theory apply to linux also? Do you run into the same instability problems from an upgrade, or does linux handle this better?
 
I've upgraded from 7.0->7.1->7.2->7.3 on several boxes without running into any problems.

Unlike Windows upgrades RedHat upgrades actually seem to work just fine.
 
Ive upgraded several boxes as well without any problems. But I can't recall upgrading from one major release to another...only .x upgrades.
 
Thanks for the replies. I might try to upgrade just for the hellofit, and if it goes bad I'll clean install.
