RedHat 7.1, Blank Screen

In short, RedHat booted up, I came back 15 minutes later, screen is blank. Sort of like Windows screen saver with no screen saver.

Any special keys to hit to wake up RedHat, cause I do not want to have to go through fsck again, etc. (by resetting). I have pretty much hit every key on the keyboard, mouse, etc.

In long:

So GNOME locked up while attempting to load two applications at once, and I had to hit the good 'ol reset button.

Just like most OSes the filesystem did not seem to like the above (despite being unavoidable 🙂), so I had to figure out how to run fix this. Thanks to some AT forum members I was able to run the commands they specified, but I was not told things were "fixed", just that the fsck was complete. I did have to hit "y" about 20 or more times to fix whatever fsck found.

Not sure in the past, because I was just handed this box with RedHat installed, but I let RedHat boot up and had to leave for 15 minutes or so, now I see the monitor power light (solid green, which means the monitor is on and not in standby) on, but a blank (black) screen.

Now it boots up, goes through what it is loading, I can choose to boot: linux, linux.bak, linux-up.bak, linux-up

Or choose text mode, which I presented with the exact same options, but in text. lol

I cannot hit shift / (to get ?), argh, or help.

So when I choose linux for example, it starts to load, the monitor makes some funny noises and flickers a few times, then the screen goes blank like it has been, but it's permanent until I hit reset.
