I am new to linux and setup a box taht has a geforce2mx as the video card. i tried to install the new XFree86 4.0.2 and it didnt work. I also tried to install the NViddia drivers and taht as well did not work. My CLI works fine and dandy but I would like my X server to work as well. So does anybody know how to install the items on RedHat 7.0.

I gave up trying and installed RedHat 7.0.90 a few weeks ago. Worked like a charm. Wolverine was released last week I think, the latest RedHat beta release. It should work for ya.. If you're on dialup, find a friend with DSL/cable and have him/her download and burn the ISOs for ya.

I tried upgrading to 4.0.2 by hand and failed after failing to get the NVIDIA drivers to work.

Try wolverine, I've installed it one one system, and it seems stable. upgrading xfree86 to 4.02 is a pain. The installer in wolverine is a lot faster too. a 600-700MB install used to take about 30 minutes, I did a 1.3 gig install in wolverine in about the same time. It also includes firewall setup in the installer.

Search my old posts. There will be a reply that points to evil3d.net. Go there, that fixed it for me. Basically, I had to recompile the kernel to include the nvidia_kernelxxxxxxxxxxxxx.gz drivers, and the nvidia_GLX-xxxxxx.gz stuff (That last replaces MESA). It's not TOO difficult to do, and the directions were very clear. Hope that helps.
