Can't tell if it's ugly or attractive:

http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2017-kia-sportage-will-wear-a-22990-base-price/

Starts at $23k. $35k gets you AWD (Magna system includes a 50-50 locking center differential & torque vectoring) & a turbo (240hp 2L 4-cylinder turbo).

Looks like a combo between the Chevy Trax and the BMW X4. Agree on solid specs, but its ugly!

Ugly! The wheels and grill are terrible. I know the grill is used amongst other Kia products, but it just doesn't work here.

As someone previously mentioned, the specs look great! Price seems a bit high for a sub-compact SUV, but I guess they're all pushing $35k these days. The design/aesthetic is not pleasing at all however.

I was really thinking a Sportage was going to be my next vehicle purchase (2018 time frame) but I hate the front end. Not thrilled with those wheels either.

I am hoping that Kia gets the message and engineers are currently working on another facelift for 2018.

Kind of has a Fiat vibe to it. Not a big fan. I'd die before paying $35k for a kia.

a Mercedes Benz CLA starts at 32k....

19-inch wheels

thats going to hurt when it times to get new tires. tires are fucking expensive now. got a quote for my sienna and the cheap tires were 700 and the "best" tires were just under a grand...

Ugly as sin. And $35k for a Kia? You must be on drugs if you'd buy this over a Mazda.

No turbo in the CX-5 so that's a huge difference. I wouldn't buy it over a Forester XT though ;)

Not a fan of the exterior at all. That face just looks frumpy from way too many angles.

I love the new Kia/Hyundai interiors though (instrument clusters, infotainment, climate control areas). Simple, clean, and well laid out.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to MSRP. Kias/Hyundais are known for their massive discounts.

I wouldn't call it ugly, but just kind of boring. Another bubbly crossover

I'd argue a 35k Kia is better than a 32k Benz.

Dude, we bought our 2011 Tribeca Ltd for $35K out the door. Looking at this Kia, it's hard to see where the value is. It's surprising they are already trying to push up market.

It's the same problem Saturn ran into...they started selling $40k SUV's & crashed. In the $30-$40k pricerange, I'm sure there are a lot of other cars people would rather look at.

Be interesting to see what both are worth in 3 years.

New Kia's look good but would I buy a new one? NEVER. Only a used one for dirt cheap price. Resell is pure crap.

Anecdotal evidence says that Hyundai is moving a decent number of $27K Elantra "Ultimates".

I bet they sell enough of these at $35ish to justify the production run on those options, and I'd also bet the interior at that price (off the truck, at least) compares well to a bone-stock base GLA or X1. Probably won't age as well, though.
