Brings up the question, what is spam?

If something contributes to the community, is it spam?

If bill gates joined Reddit and posted a link to microsoft, would Bill be banned?

What about Ted Turner? If ted joined Reddit and posted a link to CNN, would Ted be banned?

If you're curious about it there are alot of really great posts arguing for both sides on reddit.

Spam is anything the reddit hivemind doesn't like. Try post anything against Occupy Protestors or Barack Obama and watch your comments get down voted to oblivion.

Hell, I get down voted in r/running because I tell people to drink water on their long runs and to get fitted for shoes in professional running stores vs ordering a Vibram or Minimus shoe over the Internet.

I dated a reddit admin for a couple months

I never understood the site... I can't get past its atrocious layout.

Well, the high quality people left around late 2008/early 2009, so I guess it fits well. Such a cesspool now.
