How many people died unnecessarily from delayed/missed care in the time "pro-life" politicians (and people who elected them) were blocking expansion?

Strong Federalism would help.

Stop insulating the Red Staters from Red State policies. Let Red State politicians take away their health care options, their minimum wage, their access to clean air and water. Let them race to the bottom to be the dumping grounds for the lowest-bidding polluters. Let them enact child labor laws that allow their children to go back to digging coal. It's what their Red State politicians run on, why shouldn't they get it? Because there are Blue State citizens living there? Tough shit, democracy or no democracy? Pick one already.

Without strong federalism, those Red State policies might just be coming to the entire country ala a Red State Senate and White House (they already have the House, and the Supreme Court).

And you know I'm dropping this off.

Obviously white victimhood is one of the main driving forces for the Republican Party continuing to win elections. If Red State voters have to actually live in the Red States their politicians are trying to create, maybe they'll realize they have more in common with average Blue Staters and voting accordingly. Or maybe they won't and they want their children dumb and working for $3.00 an hour. Democracy ain't always pretty, and as long as Red State voters get Blue State protections, they'll vote Race over Economics, because hey, their Red State politicians can't actually deliver all of their campaign promises on economic issues since Blue State politicians stop them... so why not keep voting for Race?

problem is

the river that flows through that red state, flows into my blue state.

I would rather it not be on fire as it crosses the border.
The four story high sheets of flame keep me up at night, and give my cat asthma. It is a very distressing situation.

My river front property value has just plunged in value, and I am underoilslick on my mortgage. I am seriously considering just walking away from the property even though I know that will ruin my credit rating. The fire department has been really nice about it though, they put a fire truck on the street to respond to flare ups so I do not even need to call them anymore when my porch ignites.

The problem is that when, not if, Republicans hold all branches of government, they will drop any pretense of Federalism and/or States Rights. Turn the entire country into Florida and I'd guess that your property value might drop so much that it's not worth it to even live there, never mind the pollution. You might need to pack up and emigrate, depending on a whole host of circumstances that you might be in.

To be clear, I don't expect any Democratic politicians to actually advocate for the position I'm advocating for, at least not before there are others who see that there is a way out of the current impasse, and it requires letting Republican voters set themselves on fire as sacrifices for their shit-tier ideology for long enough that they realize that they don't actually want to be on fire like they've been trained to believe and vote for.

By allowing Republican voters to continue voting to set things on fire without having to actually feel the fire, we're going to continue getting Republican politicians who are stockpiling gasoline and blowtorches. Meanwhile, Republican voters will say that they aren't actually going to use the gasoline and blowtorches because Democrats won't let them. At some point, there won't be enough Democrats to stop them, by hook or by crook.

So, I drop that link so that other people might think a bit differently about how we can shape a better country, because the 49% vs 46% thing isn't going to last forever, and there's no guarantee that the "demographic destiny" thing I've been hearing about for the past 30 years is ever going to materialize. They keep making new old people every day.

All the fascists need to do is beat down enough people into not caring, and even if it's 46% vs 45%, that's enough to finally get their way and decide that they aren't ever going to give it up again peacefully... and why would they, considering any election that they lose is inherently illegitimate. Hell, there are elected Republicans saying that right now, in public. Any election loss is bogus. The US should have a "national divorce". 85% of the House and 90% of the Senate were in favor of the January 6 coup via their vote that Donald Trump did nothing wrong in attempting to prevent a new administration from being formerly certified. Impeached, not convicted. That same shitbag is the current front runner for the Republican nomination.

I sure hope I'm just dead wrong and in 2024 people stop voting for the obvious and outspoken fascists, but I don't think I will be. How many more elections do you think the fascists are going to stand back and allow evil pedophile devil-worshiping traitor liberals to steal? There isn't a lot more room for insults before they just start demanding that true American patriots "defend themselves" and start killing liberals while they sleep. It's also why as a non-fascist, you should own and know how to safely operate a firearm, but now I'm digressing just a bit (but not really) from the topic of this thread.
