and I'll be impressed if RED can design and manufacture lenses that outresolve those of traditional camera companies.

The press release or whatever it is says that they are outresolving all lenses in their test group, which doesn't mean all lenses out there. I would be highly skeptical of a claim that they can outresolve all lenses, especially those of Zeiss since they produce some spectacular glass (or any of the medium format lens makers for that matter).

Whenever a company claims to have the best product ever which will surpass everything, I don't believe it until it's in production form. Oftentimes, claims like that are intended to drive venture capital investment and not sales.

Yes, Zeiss does produce spectacular glass, but they also produce crappy glass too!! Now Leica is a different story... R.I.P. R-series 🙁
