then why was the dodgers GM throwing a hissy fit when it happenedOriginally posted by: KevinH
Definitely not worth the jack they're throwing his way. Best thing to happen to the dodgers was him opting out of his contract.

If he goes with his pattern of a big season every 3rd year, I guess he's due in 2007. 2001, 2004, 2007. Yeah, that's got to be the analysis that Bill James performed and convinced the Sox to sign Drew.

5 years, $70 million. It should be a nice lineup with Drew, Ramirez, and Ortiz in the meat of the batting order. I still don't think this guy is worth $14 million a year, however.
By big season I mean OPS+ of 160. But the Bill James part is sarcasm.Originally posted by: mpitts
If by "big season" you mean "batting .300" then OK.

Yeah...if Ramirez is still around....
i like that move. he'll do well in spacious petco and he can give invaluable advice to the younger pitchers. in fact, a pitching coach as the manager (bud black), a proven pitching coach (darren balsley) and now the mind of maddux. wish we could've gotten manny though, but they wanted peavy and he's still years away from free agency.Originally posted by: honkee
Mad dog to the padres as well, Soon to be the Mount rushmore of pitching staffs.
