sox rock

Exactly.

Babe was ego centered, and was a pitcher when they sold him.
Buckner shouldn't have been on the field, but they wanted him on the field when the Sox won. Not to mention the game was already tied at that point.
Every team has a guy they traded away that turned out to be a star. - Bagwell didn't have good numbers when they got rid of him. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Clemens still is a self-centered moron. Tell you what. He is going into the hall as a Sox. And if you look at his number you cannot argue that. Rings mean
nothing to the hall committee. Why you are a hall of famer is. And clemens was a far better pitcher as a Red Sox than as a Yankee.

Clemens point was that he didn't get any run support with the sox...bullcrap, he struck everyone out! not to mention he had the support of the likes of jim rice, ellis burks, scott cooper, john valentin, mo vaughn, tim naehring (all not great but above average players)

Yet he always choked in the Playoffs when he was with the Sox. I still remembe4r him melting down when he faced the A's in the Playoffs when he was with the Sox!

I don't care how good the Red Sox are. They still have to get over that big blue wall, the Yankees.

Bump this thread back up in October and we'll see who's right.

Alright, I'm not quite ready to declare the 85 year drought over, but I am certainly excited about this team. I am almost positive that they will make the playoffs, as I see them as much stronger than the As and the Sox have an easy schedule in September with a lot of home games in August.

A lot of people worry about Kim, but as I see it, we now have one of the strongest pens in the league and Kim gave us three no-hit innings last night (we still lost b/c we put Jones out there in the 11th instead of Embree :().

Theo Epstein has done a wonderful job improving this team before the deadline. I am thrilled that we got so much while giving up so little of our future (Sanchez and Hillenbrand are the only notable losses. I know the Yanks piked up Boone, but I think it was a desperation move, and isn't a great improvement over Ventura.

I think it is clear at this point that this year's Sox aren't going to break down the way they have in the past two years. They have a resiliency I haven't ever seen in the Sox before (but I've only been watching them since '94).

My only worry is this sudden lack of run support for Pedro when we have one of the most potent offences ever, while we pile up the runs when Burkett is up.

Red Sox rotation sucks, since when is Jeff Suppan a life saver? Burkett and Wakefield are chokers, and Lowe gives up too many runs. We all know that pitching wins the Series. A's and Giants; rematch of 1989..this time without the quake :)

As a cured former Red Sox fan (similar program to AA's) let me point out that when people start speculating about the Sox taking it all "this year" the beginning of the big swan dive is just around the corner.

Face it, the Red Sox will break your heart. They specialize in it, and they are very good at it.

If Pedro Martinez can pitch every 5th day, then we have a chance.

This is Red Sox year, our young GM did a good job of keeping us in contention. Now to cruise into World Series. Yankees are not dominant like they use to be, Angels slapped them around last year in the playoffs.

Unfortunately Pedro is a Nancyboy when it comes to injuries and he seems to fade physically at the end of every season

the sox won't win. lots of mediocre pitching is practically worthless come october. No one in that bullpen can hold together in the clutch.

I hate the Yankees too, but Sox aren't going to win the World Series. The Giants are.

The Sox look incredibly strong. I hope they win. If they do, Boston will go absolutely nuts. :D

I really have a good feeling Red Sox are going all the way this year. Everybody in our lineup can hit.

As a Red Sox fan, it pains me to say this but:

Slip sliding away, slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away

Yankees are inferior compared to Red Sox.

Everybody in our lineup can hit, and we just added another starting pitcher to make a solid rotation.

Kim is the only thing that concerns me, but in the World Series, we can do what the Diamondbacks did and use Pedro Martinez as a reliever if necessarity in crucial game 6 or 7.

I really like Sox fans. They are always good for a laugh and a sucker beer bet.
