I watched this movie tonight. What did everyone think of it? I thought it was pretty cool. The evil robot amee.. hehe, that was funny. :) Just like a big dumb vicious mechanical dog thing!

It was cool that they could mysteriously breathe .. those weird algae (sp?) bugs were messed up! But cool nonetheless!

Yes, cool movie. I thought that they went into the theory of how they could breathe and what not just enough. Not so much that it was so complicated that people didn't understand it and also so people couldn't just tear into their theories which happens a lot in sci fi.

I was surprised that I didn't hate this movie after the critics got through with it. I actually liked it (a little).

It was a very tired retelling of a "space adventurers-meets life" movie with just enough twists to keep it watchable (but not enough logic or good acting). It was Val Kilmer's best acting to date - but that isn't saying anything.

I think that it's timing was unfortunate to be released at the same time other loser sci-films were also released.

It started out pretty tight, and then it just got worse and worse little by little until the end...which kinda sucked.

Believe it or not, Red Planet was better than Mission to Mars.

Unfortunate timining released the two films at about the same time.

I actually bought "Red Planet" because it was in the bargain bin for $8.99 and I needed a DVD to test my (then new) DVD-ROM.

I didn't enjoy MTM, but I enjoyed Red Planet... even if some of the science was not that accurate.

I wish someone could make a good movie based on Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"

They pretty well screwed up "Starship Troopers" by missing entirely the point of the book and turning it into a mediocre action film and love story. They'd probably do the same thing to "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".

Oh well, perhaps I should just read it again.

Pretty bad in my opinion. Too much of that "yes, commander. no commander" crap. Ugh, I'm not too much of a fan of those movies. The effects were awesome though, especially the robot. And the plot was too far fetched.
