Red Lobster?

  • Delicious!

  • Disgusting!

  • Only good if you're drunk/high/mentally deficient!

  • You're gonna die, clown!

I kind of like RL. It's not the best seafood ever, but its hard to beat unless you live near the coast.

Want great seafood? Legal Seafood. Best ever, IMO.

Good to know. Never heard of that Lettuce Entertain You; sounds insane! D:

the more I look into it, they aren't exactly what I thought. I was confusing them for the Olive Garden/Red Lobster/Ragazzi's people, but LEY seems to have a much higher quality, inventive, and more local reach.

I had been to RJ Grunt's in Chicago (the first Salad Bar ever, so they claim), and only now discovered that it was the first LEY joint.

I actually rather like their spiel.

Maggiano's is the only one on their list that I recognize as a national chain. Everything else is very much local to Chicago, or near the IL border.

I love Outback. Your description is pretty much like the one's around here--clean, well-run, about as far as you can get from a place like Applebee's, hehe.

I always liked the coconut shrimp, Alice Spring's chicken, the OB special, naturally, and some of them offer and make a fine prime rib and rack 'o lamb.
The Drovers Platter was nice, too.

The rack of lamb was expensive @ $27.00. Before they left Ontario, they brought out a new pasta dish that looked amazing. I can't remember what it was called but I think it had the word Tornado in it.

I have a menu around here somewhere.

all the seafood lovers in my family (I'm not) really don't like it. I go there for the blackened chicken alfredo and think it's the best anywhere. Of course it's got a lot of salt but hey it's still pretty damn tasty and nobody else does it the same. Not to mention it's also cheaper than anywhere else. Their biscuits are also another huge plus.

I've been to Red Lobsters that were good, and some that were awful, so I have mixed feelings on that restaurant.

Overall I would prefer a locally owned restaurant for fish though, I try to avoid corporate chains for seafood, mainly because I find the portions are smaller.

There are plenty of seafood places here and around SouthWestern Ontario due to our proximity to 3 Great Lakes. Local fish is always great.

red lobster is delicious. but make no mistake.....it is the taco bell of seafood. it is those who think of the establishment as representative of the cuisine and upper class that are silly.

This

it's not terrible but living in a coastal city i'd choose about a billion places to eat fish before red lobster.

And definitely this. If you live anywhere within a few hours drive of the water you can find much better, cheaper, and more authentic seafood.

I like Taco Bell.

There are tonnes of great seafood places here, but that's kind of not the point, it's more about experiencing a place I've heard about and seen for ages. Just trying to gauge the overall thoughts on the place.

lolwtf?

I remember the rack being ~$20 US last time I had it. maybe it was more, I don't know. I think I only had it once, as it was the most expensive on the menu next to the porter house, I think.

Wasn't Outback Special ~$10?

what an amazing deal.

It's seriously over priced and low quality compared to most seafood places.

Growing up walking distance from the beach in SE FL and spending tons of weekends down in the FL Keys, I've learned what good, real, fresh seafood is and Red Lobster is not it.

Granted it's better than drive through seafood places.

the menus are a little different between Canada and the US. I see no mention of the Mad Max burger on the US menu.

The Porter House was taken off the menus in Ontario except our location.

that pasta dish had a bunch of stuff mixed together with a special cheese sauce blend. It was seasoned for a peppery taste. The smell was intoxicating.

Can we do a PF Changs thread next? We haven't had one of those in a couple months...

Meh, it was a valid question; I was not ragging on the place. Wanted to know whether to hit the Original Pancake House AND Red Lobster when I head to the states next week, or just the OPH.

You guys do realize that how someone perceives food to taste is a subjective opinion, right? What tastes horrible for one person might be divine for another.

Alright, just making sure.

I like the Original Pancake House. Great crepes! I also like the Eggs Florentine.

I was just joking about the PF Changs thread. 😀

Ah ok, sorry man. 😀

It does rock, I freaking love that place. I always make sure to fit a stop in there when I head to the US.

my fiance used to work there one summer in college and she told me horror stories about how everything is prepackaged and nasty. have been there and to olive garden and they are miserable places to eat!

I've had bad luck with Red Lobster mostly.

Went once in South Dakota because it looked like one of the best places in town, was visiting my uncle near Sioux Falls. The food was good, and we were all pleased.

Every time I've been to a Red Lobster near home (Chicago area), I've been very disappointed. Maybe it's because in Sioux Falls, Red Lobster is the closest thing to a 4 star restaurant, so they get good cooks. Where as here, they burn everything and ruin all the food so it's essentially rubberized and barely edible IMO.

Yup, biscuits are good but 99% of their seafood goes freezer->microwave->you. Great for poor people who want to try some seafood, though.
