Red Lobster - smaller portions?

I was in Red Lobster last night and ordered trout. I go to Red Lobster for their trout 2 or 3 times a month. When my order came, the portion size looked considerable smaller than normal? I enquired with my waitress if this was the lunch or dinner portion? She assured me it was the larger dinner portion. About half way through my meal, the guy in the next booth order a lobster. When his lobster was brought to him, he starts to complian that the lobster is too small and is not what is normally served. As I'm paying my bill, the waitress comes over and tells me that she heard that Red Lobster has recently cut the portion sizes of their expensive food to avoid raising their prices? She said that you get larger portions of vegies and other things, but the actual fish portion will be cut down. Has anyone else encountered this?

i don't know
but
most portions in restaurants are enough for two people, unless you are an athlete on a high calorie diet for training

Yea I rather get less and pay less.

Some meals I barly can finish and most I take home a good amount.

i havent noticed in the places i go to, but then again i dont really eat out at national chains. I prefer local, besides to me the last time i have eaten at Red Lobster (5 years agao)everything tasted the same

Red Lobster is barely one step above Long John Silvers when it comes to seafood.

Uh....maybe a few more steps than one. They actually do a decent job at my local chains. Not much to cooking seafood though. The most you can do is overcook it.

Their prices are high enough as it is compared to other places and they curt back their portions? I would not bother going back.

you probably way overeat meat anyway. they're doing you a favor.

lobsters can frequently be had well below $10/lb right now. it's very worth it to grill your own.

Lobster is $5/lb here off the boats here in Point Judith, RI.

And yes, Red Lobster is garbage.

I've noticed prices have gone up in the last 3-4 years on fast food most definitely. I remember when Quiznos was the expensive lunch option around here cuz you'd spend $7-8. Now most value meals at McDicks will run you that much. $7 for crap food like McDicks? Screw that. I eat at the company cafeteria more now.

I usually order salmon. They usually give me a decent sized portion of the fish. Except the last time I went. When I got my plate, I looked at the fish and it was smaller than normal. My girlfriend started laughing at me, because she knew I came to Red Lobster to fuck some salmon up. Lucky for me, I asked the waiter about it, and she gave me another piece for free.

Win.

It's called downsizing. You either do it, or you raise your prices....especially in this economy. Most places have gone through this change numerous times, and if they didn't, look for higher prices or smaller portions to come.

Oh...and yes....Red Lobster is yucky (the biscuits are good, though). If I recall correctly, they could not even last a year in New England.

McDicks? we don't have that anywhere near here, thank goodness. sounds nasty

I disagree.
You are excluding approx 60% of the country, fat people. We eat enough for 2, or more ...

I only eat 2 things at Red Lobster:

1. All you can eat shrimp events
2. Lobster Pasta (totally bad ass)

The rest is over priced and doesn't taste good. Also, Red Lobster 20 years ago was a different place than it is now, quality went down hill, but those 2 things are still good and I go there from time to time.

Wow, what an amazing lack of relevance you've displayed here. Maybe next time you could bother to actually read the OP and offer up something with at least a little thought behind it.

I read the OP and my opinion of Red Lobster is that it sucks dick. Don't get jealous though, I'm sure it will leave you plenty.

Thank you and have a nice day.
