6-2-2004 Cobb Cams Snap Red-Light Runners

A third motorist said, ?Well, a lot of young drivers like myself don't pay attention and I just received a ticket for smog, so I think it's a great thing to do.?

But, other drivers said there?s the odd chance that the red-light cameras could fault the wrong party.

?Sometimes you can't see the light if there's a truck in front of you or somebody's driving too slow or too fast,? a driver told 11Alive. ?It's just?it's not right.?

Another driver said, ?It'll make it safer, but it defeats the purpose of having cops around here.?

The Ticket is $70

ONe is suposed to drive according to the conditions.

If there is a truck in front of you that makes it so you can not see the signals, back off so you can. There is no need to crawl up the read of the truck.

So they are driving to slow. Wait for a cycle.

"Driving to fast" Then they must be coming up behind you. If so and you can tell that in time  to make a decision to run the light, then you have a choice to make. If you run the light, then they will also. If you run the light, you could get broadsided. That will probably be worse than getting read-ended.

Flip a coin, do you feel lucky.

I don't have a problem with this kind of law enforcement. But then again, I don't spend or run red lights.

The sad thing is that if people would F*CKING STOP FOR RED LIGHTS, we wouldn't need this sort of stuff.

Pretty much. Atlantan drive like meth-addled retards and red-light cameras are what they reap for their efforts. I don't like them any more than the next guy, but this is what it takes to get people to stop being shitheads behind the wheel here. You can't just say "drive carefully", because they simply won't.

Situations exist ware running a red is necessary; the ticket should be contestable w/out court fines.

Otherwise: i'm glad they are trying to get people to stop at red lights!

What kind of situations? Even if your wife's in labor in the back seat, you're not doing her and the baby much good if you get broadsided while running a light on the way to the hospital.

They're everywhere.

I keep that song now on any CD I burn. That way, when I see someone going The Distance, I can skip back to that track and honor their driving "skills" properly.
