I was thinking of trying Red Hat on an old Gigabyte HX motherboard with a Cyrix processor. Use would just be a dial-up modem for Internet access. Does anyone know if this will run OK? Red Hat only lists the processor which they say is compatible, I couldn't find anu motherboard compatibility info. What's a good cheap CD-ROM to use for this that will read a CD-RW disc?

Should work fine. You can use pretty much any fairly recent cdroms or do an ftp install.
