I am a windows user but I've read that Linux has gotten much more user friendly. How hard is the REd HAt 7.0 for the beginners? Should I install Linux on my hdd on a separate partition?

Learning Linux can be a bit step, but most distrobutions today are easy to use. Redhat is one of the easiest in my opinion. The only way to install RH 7.0 is to create a seperate ext2 partition. Be careful not to mess around with the other partitions. If you do you might loose data.

If you have room on your harddrive, just create another partition and install RH on it... RH should recognize your other Windows partition, and LILO (linux Loader) will give you the ability to choose which OS to boot into everytime you start your PC... So you can install RH and play around with it, while keeping all your everyday uses in Windows...

I've heard that RedHat 7.0 has a lot of bugs in it. Would it be wise to go for this distro or a different one?

I personally think Mandrake 7.2 is easier to install than RH7 (who needs disk druid with that lovely auto allocate button?).
