Red Faction install problems!!!!

ok, does anyone else have problems installing Red Faction with winxp??
I keep getting these 2 errors!! 16bit MS-DOS Subsystem
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an Illegal Instruction. CS:053c IP:0105 OP:8e f4 e5 76 Choose "Close" to terminate the application" then ihave the option to close or ignore!!!!
please help me! I've also tried running in compatiable modes of win95-win2000! please help!!!!

it's a bought copy, my friend bought it, tried it, kinda liked it, made a copy for himself and sold the box to me.
he had it working on Win2kpro, so i'm not sure what the problem is!!!!!

not sure what the problem is, although when i had win2k i would get 16-bit subsystem errors after a norton program i installed got screwed up (by me, i think i deleted a file or suppin). i have winxp and red faction both installed and played flawlessly.

I didn't have any problems installing Red Faction on winxp. Everything ran fine
