Red Faction in Vista 64

Anyone have this game and get it to work?

I have Vista 64
Q6600
4 GB ram
HD 4850 video

When I run Red Faction, I get an error informing me that I lack the minimum 8 MB memory required to run the game.

Have tried setting it to compatibility mode, does not help.

First off: Compatibility mode is junk. I still have never used it to make a game work that wasnt functioning before. Its almost always something else.

In this case, I have 2GB and can get Red Faction to run. I think it refuses to see any more than 2GB of RAM. I guess when they made it they thought no one would ever possibly have so much.

Isnt there a way you can trick programs into believing you only have so much memory? I thought I saw this issue before with another game.

It lets you configure settings before starting the game. When I go into that, it thinks I have a P3 CPU and 1 GB of memory. I'm not sure of a way to trick a program like you mention. Hopefully someone else knows how...
