Red Faction Guerilla issues

I purchased Red Faction Guerilla off a Direct2Drive, and just installed it today. When I boot the game, it loads, plays some starting videos, and then just hits a load screen. This load screen doesn't freeze, but it stays there forever. I figured it was doing something (first time run) so I let it go and came back three hours later. The loading bar was still moving, and it hadn't gone anywhere.

The annoying thing is, none of the usual Windows hotkeys work (ctrl-shift-esc, ctrl-alt-delete), except for alt-tab and the Windows key. If I try alt-tabbing, it locks up. If I hit the Windows key, it minimizes but doesn't give me proper mouse control and locks Windows explorer up so I can't do anything. It necessitates a hard reboot/shutdown. I've had to run checkdisk about four times today, and had Windows repair itself twice (once with the install disc). At this point, I'm afraid if I keep playing with it, it'll hose my Windows install.

Any ideas? I've looked, but it doesn't seem like anyone's had these issues. The screen doesn't freeze, it just keeps going forever (with one of those pointless looping loading bars).

I'm rather annoyed right now.

Played it on my 4870 and never had that issue. It did have a sound issue with 5.1 sound though.

I heard with some online download versions of the Red Faction games (steam and D2D) you need to take out any CD's or DVD's from your drive to get the game to work.
Yes, I'm serious. If its a game that normally needs a disc and has been modified to not need a disc, you need to remove all discs from your system so the new executable doesnt get confused.

It worked for Red Faction 2 on Steam. Might be worth a try.
