Red, dry eyes from computer usage. Any remedies?

Ok and leave the "Try not sitting in front of your computer so much" at the doorstep. Part of my job requires me to stare at a screen for hours at a time.

I need recommendatoins on good eye drops or methods/techniques on how to reduce my eye irritation.

Thanks

Eye transplant?

If you have an LCD and use eye drops, I don't know what to tell you.

Perhaps you have some sort of astigmatism. Have any clear glasses or light sunglasses you can use to experiment with?

No contacts but I wear glasses with progressive bifocals.

Ok. That's good info to have ahead of time. Scratch my idea. I really couldn't tell from your avatar that you wore glasses, but GUESS WHAT!? I'm not really a tin can.

How about any good eye drops you can recommend? I use Clear Eyes and Visine Tears...both soothe, but my eyes...especially my right one gets really red sometimes.

Visine. They have many varieties, some get the red out, others for contacts. Hit up the eye care section at the local grocery store. They got em all...

Sorry for staying off topic, but do you have glasses? If so, keep them clean and consider a better set of lenses.

Also, check the distance from the monitor. Decrease the resolution and move back a little. Try decreasing the brightness as well. Besides that, get more sleep.

I've been told eating carrots are good too. Try getting something healthy to eat, if you look at food once every 10 minutes, that's time away from the screen. Sure, not a lot, but it breaks the staring.

My ideas might seem stupid, but if you're on a lot, they can make a difference.

Besides my ideas, I'd go to a pharmacy and ask them what drops to use once you've tried my ideas.

How old are you?
Severe dry eyes is common among older people.
You may need to seek presecription eye drops such as Resatsis.

Try Rohto-V. I swear by the stuff. Same basic ingredients as Clear Eyes, but also has added menthol which cools and soothes the eyes. Sounds weird I know, but it feels great and it works.

Supposedly it's hugely popular in Japan. Used to be hard to find in the US, but Target, Kroger et. al. usually have it nowdays.
