Just saw RD this weekend. Good movie, enjoyable viewing, but I feel that it contained a number of directorial errors. For example: what season of the year was it? I don't think the director himself knew. And you could tell that most of the scenes with Hopkins and Norton were filmed on different takes, the acting felt so disjointed. Sorry, just nitpicking I guess... for the most part the acting, script, and production was absolutely top-rate, those little errors just distracted me a bit.

hmm... i saw hannibal before SOTL and I didn't like it at all...
That's one of the reasons I never saw SOTL. It's also the reason that's preventing me from seeing RD. Dunno if it's worth watching...

of the movies, SOTL is the best, RD is 2nd.

Of the books they were based on Hannibal was actually a great read. :) grab the book.

I guess I'll have to check it out...

IMO (which most people tend NOT to agree with) Hannibal is better than SOTL and RD is equal to SOTL in quality.

Ack!

I admit Hannibal was better than the almost inconceivably dreadful book (WHAT a letdown, when the first two books were so strong), but to me it is a distant fourth in the series as a film (and way worse than the other Harris film, Black Sunday, as well).

I would rank them:

1)SOTL
2)Black Sunday
3)Red Dragon
4)Manhunter (still quite good IMO)
(major dropoff in quality)
5)Hannibal
