Just rented Red Dragon at the weekend.

Liked it a lot.
What a cast:

Anthony Hopkins
Edward Norton
Ralph Fiennes
Harvey Keitel
Emily Watson
Mary-Louise Parker
Philip Seymour Hoffman

Nothing earth shattering in the script, very predictable, nothing that hasn't been done before but that amazing cast really carry the film especially Fiennes.

Well worth a watch IMHO

I actually was somewhat dissapointed by it. It could be that I was told that it was very good from friends and had high expectations, but either way it was only so-so in my book. Worth renting though, if for no reason other than to see what it is.

IMO (which most people tend NOT to agree with) Hannibal is better than SOTL and RD is equal to SOTL in quality.

Well I dont know if Hannibal is better than SOTL but it is definately a good movie and much better than the ratings it recieved at the time.

It was ok, I didn't think it was anything special when I saw it in the theater.

It was pretty much a remake of Manhunter which was a very good movie.I think Hopkins would have been a better Lechter in Manhunter but the vilian in manhunter was much creepier. The character that Ed Norton played was better portrayed in the original Manhunter by the guy from CSI.

If I hadn't seen Manhunter I probably would have enjoyed it more;)

Yeah, I guess "so-so" reviews of Hannibal is my reasoning for not seeing it yet. On that same line, do I really need to see Hannibal for RD to make sense? ie, do I need to see the movies in order?

i thought manhunter was beautiful. 'red dragon' was actually its original title.

red dragon (2002) did not need to be made. absolute waste of good celluloid.
just me ranting but i detest these franchise films.

hannibal was schlock too. hopkins should stop mocking his own performances.

I thought I was one of the two or three hundred that saw that movie. Nice to see another one on the list.

If I hand't seeen Manhunter, I still wouldn't have watched Red Dragon. Hannibal was the SUCK to me.

watched it last night. Very well done, Anthony Hopkins lives up to his fine reputation once again.

I loved it. In fact, I think that the Hannibal Lechter series is one of the few that are actually good, movie after movie. I enjoyed it very much. I watched it two nights ago, in my living room with all the lights out and my surround sound at a rediculously high level. I was thuroughly creeped out :D

Forgive the spelling :D
