Adding to the KOTOR 3 announcement...

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6...tag=latestnews;title;3

i must say i love this series...i just bought c&c 3 and i own all of the others

tiberium, red alert, generals...3 great presented stories on 3 totally different levels...all tremendous games...

i think this is the greatest franchise in the gaming universe...u have elder scrolls, warcraft, splinter cell, etc. have good older games and still making more but c&c universe is massive and they continue to make more successful ones...i think around 15 total as of now have been released off the top of my head with 2 more planned...

absolute beauty 🙂

the first pc game i ever bought was the original C&C... and i never beat it.... I liked playing the 3rd/4th GDI mission and just turtling.

Westwoods original C&C was a game that redefined the RTS genre in the post Dune II era.
it was so much better than anything else, and everything else after it was compared to it.
C&C offered a gameplay experience and mechanichs (not to mention multiplayer) that no one had ever seen before.

the point of this introduction is: NOTHING in RTS games can surprise me anymore. after 10 years of doing the same all over again i've completely lost interest in RTSs. hell, i only played Warcraft 3 because i was such a hugh fan of WC2.

All the time its the same: get the biggest army (blizzard games) get the most upgrades (microsoft games) etc etc.

an RTS without RPG elements and a decision making process is pointless. such was the original Red Alert and the thousands of bland RTSs that followed.

now be a darling and pass me the sauce please.

I'm mostly in agreement here; which is why I did like WC3. The heroes and unit capped are what made it enjoyable for me.

I haven't really followed RTS games for a while. Which ones did/does Microsoft make?

a game like spellforce 2 was rpg/rts hybrid that worked very well...

at leat in c&c3 kanes wrath they are introducting the epic units...huge powerful units...

ill agree that they're hasnt been much change but if the game is likeable its hard to changed a winning formula

I have every C&C series published except the first. The latest Tiberium Wars initially sold well but of all the franchises its online play has dropped significantly. All you need to do is spam tanks and your on your way.

Basically a lot of people were disappointed with the latest offering (though I personally liked it) and the fact that EA has its hands on the franchise doesn't bode well at all.

If the movies are like C&C3 I'll pass. I know C&C games have a lot of movies, but I don't remember tiberian suns being so damn boring. I mean seriously do we need 4 different news casters giving boring monologues and some boring dialog/interview before we go on to the next mission?

I think this announcement is partially to allow them to sell more copies of kanes wrath as apparently you need to have that to get into the BETA of RA3. Kanes wrath is the first c&c game i havent actually pre ordered, i was a pretty big cnc fan but if im not pre ordering it then theres probably more who also arent (just speculating), EA buggered with the storyline and made it bland and unineresting so i dont care anymore. Their latest attempt cnc3 was ok... but like generals its still a far cry from the old westwood cnc games.

Ill be interested to see what the storyline is for kanes wrath and ra3, but if the reviews are mediocre or bad i can always find out the story through wikipedia or youtube.

I think its good that theyre trying to revive the cnc franchise with tiberium, kanes wrath and ra3 in development all at once! But IMO theyve wrecked it already, ive got starcraft II to look forward to, at least theres gonna be a consistent and interesting storyline to that coupled with awesome gameplay, a great game basically which is a blizzard trademark it seems.
