Red Alert 3 - buying used?

I want to buy Red Alert 3 used. From what I understand, there is a 5-install SecuROM limit. It looks like the Steam version removed Securom, but it doesn't look like the retail version has a remove Securom patch. There is a way to revoke installs, but how do I know if the seller used it?

Is there a way to find out how many installs are left before I actually buy it?

 
70 views and no one knows how to check the number of installs left? So basically, the "revoke" tool is still pretty much worthless for the secondary market?
 
RA3 brand new is only 30 USD, less if you find it on sale somewhere. How much money are you really going to save buying used?

🙁 Missed it. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stick to my policy of never buying a SecuROM game again. I've had problems with it before.
