Red Alert 2 Network Game Help needed!

Anyone managed to play a network game of Red Alert 2? I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up.

See, i've one computer with 2 network cards. 1 for the cable modem, and the other connected to a 5 port hub. The other computer has 1 NIC connected to the hub.

Both NICs have TCP/IP, ICS, IPX, NetBeui bound.

When i start up RA2 on both computers, they cannot find each other in the lobby! 🙁

Nothing much was changed in the network options for RA2. Any advice?

You might want to try to remove Netbeui. Run file sharing through IPX or through Tcp/ip but make sure you have file sharing bounded to only one protocol not all of them.

I was having trouble a while ago trying to get Red Alert 1 to work over network. I read somewhere that you have to goto IPX Properties and enabled NetBIOS over IPX/SPX. Then goto 'Advanced' tab and set network address to the same number on BOTH COMPUTERS, it used 10 so that's what I did. Then it said to change 'Frame Type' to 802.2. I didn't think all this was needed but if I remember correctly it worked.

mojonba1 might right too since NetBEUI is for file sharing but doesn't work for network games I believe.

edit: I would try Red Alert 2 with the same setup as you to see if I could get it to work but the P166 isn't too good! 🙂

go to the network options and change your nic. mine was something like a6 b3 t5 ## ## ##:00 00 00 00. switch it to the second one on the list which on mine had the zeroes first. i did that for mine and the other and it's been sweet, sweet killin' ever since.
