Recycling dead UPS

So, I want to recycle my dead UPSes and I want to know which category they fall under. I'm fairly sure they fall under hazardous waste so i'll probably hit up that recycling center soon.
But before I do that, can these UPSes be recycled at places like Best Buy or some other places that take batteries?
It would be fun dumping these things off at Best Buy and letting them take care of my junk! 🙂

If they won't take the whole unit, you can take the batteries out and then toss the remaining plastics since it will no longer be "hazardous." Or keep them as surge protectors if they have any non-batteried outlets.

APC sent me a mailing label for return shipping of my old battery when I recently purchased a new battery for my UPS through their website.

I know Radio Shack recycles rechargeable batteries, but I'm not sure if they'll take the larger ones in UPSes and power tools.
