I installed XP onto a new HD. My Win2k installation is still on my old HD with all my user settings, etc. I desperately need to get to my old saved e-mails and such on that D: drive to copy them over to my XP install on C:. I can browse D: just fine but have no idea where my old email folders are on the D: drive...I can't find them anywhere. Where does Outlook 6 store the Local Folder upon the hard drive?

Probably in c:\Documents and Settings\[your login]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. The file will probably be named "outlook.pst".

Now, that's if you're actually using Outlook. When you say "Version 6" you make me think you're using Outlook Express. I don't use it, so I can't tell you where exactly to look. Try the same folder above, though; it's a good bet it's under the "Documents & Settings" folder tree.

PST is an Outlook-only data format, so you wouldn't have any of those files.

Did you troll all the way through the "Documents and Settings" folder tree? If you can't find the stuff there (and last I saw, Outlook Express used many, many data files, not just one), do a search for recently-modified files.

Look for big files around there named like your email folders were. I used to backup my Outlook by just saying those, not making PSTs. It isn't very pretty, but might help if you are desperate.

Ok, somebody shoot me.

I forgot to "unhide" the files after just installing XP. I can now find the files you guys are talking about. Thank you.
