So I formatted my computer and lost all my songs. What program can I use to recover my files, and is this possible as I formatted my computer? I searched the internet and there are so many programs and I don't think they work fine..

WHat can I use to do this? Thanks.

If you used quick format, you might be able to recover them using software. If you used a regular format I think you're SOL. You can try the free PcInspector and see if you come up with anything.

I used a disc with the OS and it overwrote my partition which had my files on it. Would it work still?

It might. It's been awhile since I've done a install. I think it gave you the option of regular and quick format though. The problem is anything written to the drive could have been written over the old music files. The only way to find out is to try it. You can also try GetDataBack which works well, but you have to pay to recover your files. It'll show you if there's anything there to recover before you pay money though.

I hate programs that show you that you can recover it but then you have to pay to recover it. But that's the way it is. This is the only way that you will be able to recover it since you did overwrite most of the drive.

Why did you reformat your computer with your data still on it?
