recovering data from a corrupt MS Word document??

I have a pw protected word document...I have it backed up...but I can't open either copy.....after I put in the password here's the message I get for both the copy on a USB flash drive AND the copy on my hard drive: Error Message Pic

Then Word crashes, tries to recover the document, but only gets like the first paragraph. The file has ENORMOUS sentimental value, that's why I had backed it up...but both copies give me the same error now

I think it is strange that both copies got damaged a the same time (unless it got damaged before you backed it up the last time?). Still, it might be your Word installation that is somehow corrupt. Have you tried opening the USB drive copy in another computer?

yah, same exact error. I have NO idea why it's doing this

Try opening it with Notepad or something?
