I am working on my fiancee's parents' hard drive, which recently bit the dust. I ran PC Inspector on the drive and was able to "recover" a sizable amount of files. It looks like the files were merely recovered clusters, however, and not the files themselves. They are all 1,472 KB in size.

Is there any way I can obtain the "true" files from these recovered clusters?

I've heard very good things about SpinRite by Steven Gibson. The only downside is it's expensive ($89 I believe). But it's legendary in its ability to recover damaged files and even fix damaged hard drives.

Here's a Link
