Recover Thunderbird Emails

Hey everyone,

My OS install got corrupted but I have the files from thunderbird that contain my emails. How can I use these to recover the emails? When I drag them into my new local folder (within application data/thunderbird/...) it tries to load them but nothing comes up.

any advice is appreciated.
