Recover files from old MBP HDD

Back in 2005ish, I had a MBP 13". At the time I ripped out the harddrive and put it in a box. I would like to recover the files as I just found it. Will any IDE to usb external case work and what is necessary to read the files on a Windows machine?

The IDE to USB will work to connect the drive to your windows machine. Can Windows read files on the drive? You could always run UBUNTU live version and get the files.
