I had a RAID 1 setup on a nf7-s with 2 120 GB Maxtor sata drives. However after rebooting (to install sp2) it said that the RAID was critical. I mirrored what I thought was the good drive over and somehow I got my exact computer from approximately 6 weeks ago. I then reinstalled windows running on the one drive, ie with the raid in critical. I unlugged the good one to see what the other would do and now neither will boot and it says invalid RAID configuration...
I want to ditch RAID at this point and just get both the drives to boot. I have some stuff on there I really could do without losing - hence the RAID 1. So how do I get the data off? It will not allow me to resolve conflicts, rebuild or anything bar delete in the RAID BIOS. Windows refuses to recognise the discs and I cant see them in partition magic either. Im scrambling around google at this point trying to see if its possible to re-write the MBR such that I have a normal drive to boot but no programs will recognise the drives exist.
I tried installing a the standard SATA Driver from Silicon Image too. Do I need a non RAID driver like this? I downloaded what I presume is the newest from the Silicon Image Site but windows says it is incompatible with my hardware and if I remove the RAID driver and force it then it just stays non-working (device manger red x) and reinstalls the other one by itself if I scan for hardware changes.
The Silicon Image Java RAID proggy has all the optioins locked as well. (And crashes the first time and runs the second everytime I attempt to run it...).
I dont have access to another computer that supports SATA either. Im currently running in the doomed machine from an old IDE drive.
I tried to list everything I have done. So....HELP?! Im at a loss here. My data is there I have to be able to get to it. Dont I?
Thanks to anyone with some ideas...
