Recover data from floppy?

Hello. My father had major computer problems (bad CPU) a couple days ago, and I was able to boot it up with my processor and put some of his most important files on a floppy to work on while his is dead. After tearing the machine apart he tried the floppy today, but when you insert it it is not recognized. ("Please insert disk into drive A:")

Anything I can do to get some/any of the data off of this floppy? Really don't want to have to try putting his HD in mine, etc...

Thanks.

try it in another computer. XP is notorious for seeing floopy disks as not formatted when they really are
