recover AOL personal filing cabinet

so my friend stored all of his emails on his computer using AOL (the manage mail tab under email). He had a virus and had to format his hard drive, but managed to backup the entire contents of the drive first. how would i go about finding these emails and putting them into his current version?

i have already tried snooping aroung his application data for AOL in his backup with the only significant difference being one file art.idx which is much bigger in the backup folder, meaning it could be storing these emails in it. i tried swapping the files around with no success.

Is there an import button?

under mail settings, i clicked on manage saved mail, restore....which did not ask me where to restore from and did nothing.

A lot depends on the version of AOL that they're using. It used to be in the organize folder, but I know that 9.0VR stores it somewhere else.

AOL have an ''''''ok'''''' support line compared to some of the other schmucks.

prob best to ring them and find out - do post back one way or the other.
