Recover a deleted partition?

So I wanted to reformat my computer. I have three partitions, C D and E. I had random files on D and E and I moved things like all my documents and such to my E partition. So that when I deleted my C partition I would still have everything. So I put in my winxp cd and get to the partition screen. It says I have winxp installed on the D partition, (I guess I did something funky when I first installed it). So I decide to move everything onto the E partition so that I can delete the C and D and recreate them with the drive letters I wanted (I wanted C to be for windows). I do that and everything is fine. Except I manage to get a virus. So Im thinking what the heck I'll just format again since I dont really have anything installed yet anyways.

So in goes the xp cd again. At my partition screen things are a little different this time. Instead of being listed as
C
D
E

it is listed as
C
E
D

my E and D drives are the same size. So not knowing better I assumed all my files were on the E partition. So I go and delete and recreate the C and D partitions again (I know I shouldn't have deleted the D....) and I think everything is fine until I install windows again and see that my D and E partitions are both empty.

Now I've been looking at ways to recover my E partition. I've tried testdisk, but its a bit advanced for me. When I hit the Analyze option it shows my current partition structure (theres 5 different things, not sure what to make of them). If I go into any of those it shows me 3 more partitions each corresponding to the current size of each partition. Am I out of luck with testdisk because I deleted the partition and recreated it?

I've also tried findntfs but it seems to only scan my C partition. I have the .exe in my C partition and I type in findntfs 1 1 1 1 etc...

I know this post is a bit of a mess but I've had a lack of sleep lately. Any suggestions on how to recovery a partition I deleted but recreated? I havent written anything on there. I have other hard drives that I could use also. Thanks.

If you haven't overwritten, this looks like a good bet. If it is as good as other Acronis programs, it should work.

thanks. I'll give it a try. I hope I didn't overwrite anything. I mean the only thing I've done was delete the partition and then create it again.
