Ah, this is cute. This is probably the only thread in a few years where we'll see Conservatives actually being fiscally conservative.

BBond - There has been no fraud found that Diebold has been involved in and the "rally the troops" statement that O'Dell said has been blown out of all proportion. The machines and the programs have not even been close to have been proven to be "crooked". There are as many or more problems where Diebold machines were not used.

Bush won the popular vote by over 3 million votes and has a very large lead in Ohio and Florida.

We have the right to ask for a recount and the cost to taxpayers needs to be measured against the cost of doubts about the election.

My only problem is that it is kooks like you that have any doubts and it could be recounted 20 times and you'll still not be satisfied. However, a right is a right.

The Green Party candidate has requested a recount. His name was on the ballot. He paid the $10 per precinct.

COUNT THE VOTES!

Satisfy the kooks. 140,000 votes doesn't = a huge lead when there are more than that number of votes outstanding.

Michael, I'll call you tomorrow at the Diebold customer care dept. What's your extension?

BBond - I am not and have never worked for Diebold. I don't even live in the USA right now.

Notice that I said the recount is a right that we have and that we should do it.

Michael

ps - Green Party = kooks

Me? No, but Michael called me a kook earlier in this thread.

"My only problem is that it is kooks like you"

Then Pliablemoose called me a jackass.

"BBond=jackass."

Other than those two rule violations, I don't recall any others.

And the sad part is, I've always held their opinions of me so highly. How will I ever recover?

Pliablemoose - The 3 cards I bought are now worth over 3 x what I paid for them. They exploded in value over the last year as Type 1 is getting to be very popular. I did tell you that I was offering less than they were worth, though <grin>.

BBond - "kook" is mild. To a certain extent, every society needs a number of "kooks" who are outside the box of normal behaviour. I think that you've let your emotions control you to the point that you're not rational about the subjects you post on, but our system allows for and probably requires people to question a fair amount.

My question to you is that once the recount is done and the results don't change, will you drop the "fraud" and other allegations about how the election was won? Crusading for better vote counting is fine, but wrapping it up into partisan posts detracts from the goal. Just like blackbox.org's goals are great, but rushing out with "press releasing" and internet posts everytime they decide to even look at something is dumb. Go do the investigation and then report the end results, not the trivia and unsupported conclusions along the way.

My goal would be to get every vote counted properly, not to use the counting to get one person elected over another.

Because you post nothing but chicken little drivel on this subject, you have earned the "kook" designation.

You're the one name calling and I'm outside the box?

I want all the votes counted. They haven't been counted. Count them. If that's outside the box then I would suggest you're ideas of what's outside the box are outside demcoracy.

Also, since your opinion is so very important to me, please point out the 'chicken little drivel' I've posted.

Show me where I ever said that. All I'm saying is, the state says $10 per precinct. Paid. Start counting.

I'd like to offer CAD the same challenge. I believe my point was something about the difference between 'assumption' and 'logic'.

Meh - I guess they're the same when it benefits them. Of course, 'assumption' and 'logic' are worlds apart when it comes to indicating wrong doing by Bush & Co.

Does anyone know what this means, and how it relates to this 'taxpayer' discussion...
Bobier said the campaign is still raising money for the next phase of the recount effort

I think you might be right.

The recount was requested by and is being paid for with contributions given to the Green Party.

How can you possibly confuse that with a taxpayer funded recount?
Originally posted by: Conjur

And how is the recount wasting taxpayer money? It's being paid for by other political parties, not tax money.
But I don't see Gaard

True - you never directly said it wouldn't, but you also jumped in the middle of that discussion and wanted it explained to you. And then I said this: "Conjur, gaard, and you don't seem to believe that this will cost tax-payers money." Which at that point you had not accepted the fact that it would cost them money because you had recently pulled 4 quotes that had to do with the the money raised for the recount effort. Despite this money raising - it's illogical to think that they'll raise enough to pay for the recount without spending tax-payer money. So again, your continuation within that discussion and continual posting about "raising money" - makes it look like you weren't accepting the fact that this will cost tax-payer money.

So yes, logic dictates that if $10 per precinct is the "fee" - the recount will cost more than the "fee" - thus costing tax-payers money. However you can believe what you want and keep clinging the fund raising thing if you wish. CAD & co are correct in their logical appraisal of this issue regarding tax-payer money.

I'd place a wager that the "next phase" = court.
