Recording the guitar on the computer

How do I record from my guitar on to the computer?
I'm not looking to do anything too outrageous, just simple recordings of me playing...

I have Goldwave, which is freeware, but its all I need for now...
And I know you plug your guitar and a pedal into the "input" socket of your soundcard, but the cables don't fit...
the guitar/pedal uses a quarterinch cable...and the one on the sound card is way smaller than that...

help?

I've seen people using those drives in the 5.5 bays like a live drive IIRC to do things like this.

It won't be the greatest sound quality, but you can go get a 1/4' to 1/8" adapter at radio shack and use that straight in to the soundcard input.

Just go look down there and they can show you what you need.
