Recording software doesn't see my Plextor as a cdrw after rebuild

After rebuilding my system, my Plextor 8/4/32 isn't seen by either CDRWIN or Adaptec Easy CD Creator Deluxe. However the Plextor will load CD's and can be read and used...just not as a CDRW.

Currently it is the slave on the secondary IDE channel. The master is a 40x CD-ROM. The primary IDE has a HD by itself on it. I guess I could move the CD-ROM to the primary as a salve and change the Plextor to the Master but I really didn't think this had anything to do with the place on the IDE channel since the drive worked in other areas.

When I attempt to make a selection in CDRWIN it says "no recordable devices found on the IDE or SCSI bus". I get a similar message inside of the Easy CD Creator. I have tried three different blank CDR's. I am using Memorex CDR's which have only created one coaster in a few years. The Plextor does have the latest firmeware and I have tried it with DMA both on and off. It IS recognized in Device Manager as a PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W8432T so I know it is seen by the system.

Andy ideas?

Try settings the cdrw as the master on the seconday channel. If that doesn't work, try updating your ASPI layer. You get it here: Force ASPI. First use ASPIChk.exe to see if you have a complete aspi layer installed.

Hope this helps,

Well no luck. I tried both suggestions (making it a master and loading forceaspi) and it is still not seen as a CDR drive.

Any other ideas?

Bacillus, you are the MAN! Updated Easy CD Creator from 4.0 4.03 and it works like a champ now.

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
