recording phone dialog into a PC via soundcard, possible?

I would recommend either getting a specialty card for this (they actually have them somewhere I'm sure). I used to have an AT&T computer back in the day and it had a modem/soundcard combination that was really awesome for such applications.

The easiest way to do this, however, would be to get a phone recorder (about $200 from most spy shops on the internet), then you can simply run RCA cables into the back of your computer using a RCA Female to 3.5 mil jack to the line in on your sound card....then use a recording program to record the sound....(this software can be found from www.download.com in the freeware...there are a few)

although a phone recorder would cost 200 bucks, you dont need one, your computer is the thing that is going to be recording. I am almost postive that you can get a RJ-15(whatever phone cable is) -to- 3.5 mil male
they are probably around 30 bucks
you would just hook this up to your sound card

phone jack uses rj-11 and ive never heard of a rj-11 to 3.5 mini jack cable. best way to do it is get a 2 sided mini jack cable, and run it from a phones earphone out, to yur soundcards line in, and use software to record. my cellphone has a minijack port and most others do as well.

a two sided 3.5mm? my cellphone, nokia 8290 cannot accept the 3.5mm size that plugs into a soundcard, which phone you speak of?

Yeah....cellphones take 2.5 mil.

The reason I was suggesting the phone recorder is because you'd have to use a TPC card or modem/soundcard combination to do the conversion from telephone (analog) to wav (digital) if you were going to bring input to your system.
