I got a pretty nice keyboard and an electric guitar, i'd like to record some stuff to my computer. Not sure what kinda stuff i need, I'm not too knowledgeable at all in this field. What do i need? Something simple that works well and is cheap is basically what i'm after.

Do i just need to get a pretty good microphone or is there a way i can just connect the instruments directly to my computer?

Well, for the guitar, do you already have an amp you want to record off of? If so, you can just plug the output into the line-in on your PC and record.

If not, you may want to pick up something like the Line6 GuitarPort, which plugs into a USB port on your PC and acts as a virtual-amp/effects processor, and does a very nice job of recording as well.

As for the keyboard, you should just be able to run a cable from the output to the line-in on your soundcard.
