Recording HD with WMC, win8cp... storage size?

If you knew your total bit-rate you could calculate the space needed per minute or hour/etc.

HD OTA, you probably won't re-encode to a lower bitrate, simply grabbing all the data broadcast in the air and storing it on your HDD

MPEG 2, 18mbps avg max for OTA broadcast? roughly 8-10GB per hour

That high? I always thought over the air stuff would be 7-8~ tops.

(fixed it)... it should be 18mbps max for OTA broadcast(standard for how much each channel provider can broadcast.... and channel providers can provide subchannels for weather / music/audio, but 18mbps max

It looks like some people can get the 18mbps during "important" time like peak drama hours, not "mundane" afternoon shows where quality isn't that important (data a little old, but still relevant)
