I recently bought a Leadtek A180 VIVO card to take some clips some my favorite films. Now I know some DVDs won't let you do this, but why are my VHS tapes cutting the picture out? I thought the whole idea for VIVO was to be able to do this? Even on blank tapes of shows I taped for later viewing have the white bar going through. I've become quite made over this problem, as my purhcase of this video card was just for the video capture aspect. What can I do to get around this? Please help.

no one has any thoughts on this? I've heard of some cards being able to bypass it somehow? If not, i will most likely be shipping the card back. Would a TV tuner card have the same problem?

You can try ripping the dvd to your computer and playing it out to your vhs recorder. I believe that either smartripper has an option that will allow you to demacrovision your rips

If it happening w/tapes you've made (recorded shows off TV or something) then something isn't working right w/yer setup.

Yes, the DVD ripping thing sounds like a decent idea, but I do not have a DVD rom drive. I am still perplexed on why I cannot record VHS tapes. What suggestions to my setup can be made? I've tried another program and the same thing happens. Should I return the card and go for a TV tuner card? Thanks.

Ok, but I am still trying to keep the new card I just got. If there is nothing that I can do, then I may think about that. Does anyone have any suggestions that I can do for the card that I have? What about a TVtuner card? Does anyone have experiance with a certain model in VHS recording? Thank you.
