recorded audio cd tracks just say 1, not song name

Ok, I know this is a no brainer for someone, and heard the reasoning once, but forget. Why when I burn an audio cd, then play it back, lets say in musicmatch, does it just say "track 1", "track 2" and so on. Why won't it show the id3?

I thought it had something to do with having a digital sound card, which I do now, a cheapy, but is this why? How can I get it to read the cd?
