Record windows desktop apps and mic

Looking at other threads it looks like Snagit is pretty well recommended for screen capture but I wonder does it allow you to record audio from mic with the video as well?

Are there any other apps as good as Snagit but free?
 
OBS will does this (free and open source). Just set up a monitor/desktop capture scene. You'll probably have to set it to record to a file only if that's what you want (mp4 output with h264/aac). Pretty sure it has decent documentation if other things need changing.
