Record TV without Commercials?

I have an ATI All In Wonder Radeon and would like to record some shows for me to watch later. is there any way to record them without commericals?

There's no way for the program to tell whether it's the "program" or the "commercials" without some type of guide. And I don't believe normal TV provides that so unless you're there to just start recording when it comes back on and stop when it turns to commercials, I don't see any other way.

It WAS...keyword "was"

Of course the companies started calling foul because there valuable money spent on commercials was going to waste...Replay TV, the one that COULD do this, cannot anymore.

My question is this...what the hell was the commercial-skip o vcrs. I tried it and it never worked

The new ReplayTV 4000 Series can skip commercials. If you can somehow detect the 'black' frame inserted at the beginning and end of a commercial break, you probably can do it. How to detect it is a whole other problem though. 🙂
