Setup: My parents are retired and struggling a bit with increased medical expenses and inflation. I've been helping them trim their bills and their cable bill is absurd - $240, and they just watch fox news, the weather channel - pretty basic shit. TWC is running a special for 50 mb internet and 70 channels through their roku pilot program, all for $50 a month. PERFECT for them, saving a significant $190ish a month. They're ok with losing their dvr, except for my dad's weird habit - replays and recording speeches.
He never tapes shows in advance, but when it comes to sports he really enjoys replaying and sometimes taping things (while he's watching, he never tapes the game in advance). He also likes taping debates/etc. to watch at his own pace. Quality doesn't matter. Being able to offload files to his apple would be nice but not essential - he really would just love to watch TWC on the roku and be able to hit PAUSE, rewind, or tape a 5 minute speech. Remote operated would be awesome, and quality doesn't matter (he has an older roku that's TWC app compatible but also has rca jacks in addition to hdmi, which i know is copy protected).
Any suggestions?
